Welcome to FLY-UK
The Round Britain Microlight Adventure
Building on the success of previous years' events, the aim of Fly-UK 2008 is...
"To fly by day and socialise by night".
In 2004 we had 16 aircraft (including one gyro),
in 2005 about 30 joined our band,
in 2006 there were 50
and last year there were about 30!
The 2007 event started well with glorious sunshine on the west of the country, but that all changed later in the week when the weather closed in. All the same, we had a tremendous week of flying in all weathers and across varying landscapes around the country. With an over-water flight of some 26 miles along the length of Loch Ness, with clouds below the hill tops and nowhere to land except the loch, this was equivalent to any channel crossing. A handfull even made a special trip over to Orkney. Only five aircraft achieved the resounding success of spanning Britain by arriving at Sandown by the weekend. Unfortunately some participants were caught out by the weather and did not get home until several days later.
So, how many will fly this year?
Where will we start?
Where will we go?
Will you be there?
Join us to find out!
Don't miss this rally around Britain...
A real challenge for the less competitive pilot!
“I recommend the trip to all … pilots, who should move heaven and earth to be there. It has the potential to be both the scariest and most exhilarating trip you'll make!” - Jeff (participant, 2005 & 2006)
