15th to 24th June 2012

Building on the success of previous years' events, the aim of Fly-UK 2012 is...

"To fly by day and socialise by night".

In 2004 we had 16 aircraft (including one gyro),
in 2005 about 30 joined our band,
in 2006 there were 50
in 2007 there were 40
in 2008 we saw 30
in 2009, 46 (including another gyro)
in 2010 a massive 70 (including two gyros)
and in 2011, 69 aircraft were registered.

So, what was it like last year, in 2011?

Craig Revel Horwood might have called it a 'Disaarster daarling' with the promise of gales along the south coast and heavy rain in the north, but some pilots found a way through. For those that struggled along the south coast and made it through Wales and into Scotland it was a triumph. As it was for those that found a way northwards and up the west coast.

The meet up at Boston was not to be missed with a great party for those that managed to get there on the Friday. After that the groups broke up as people made decisions about the flying conditions to suit their abilities and preferences. Some made short hops from one airfield to the next between the strongest blows while others sat it out through the rain showers. The final stop was at the Great North Fly-In, Eshott, where we were treated to an entertaining evening and a fly past by the Spitfire and Hurricane of the BBMF. What a great end to a memorable week.

Despite the difficulties reports are that everyone enjoyed the event and can't wait for Fly-UK 2012.

The Fly-UK team supports the less experienced pilots and ensures that everyone has an enjoyable time and one to remember.

  So, why not join us this year?

        We are starting 'Somewhere in the Midlands' as usual;

              Some will head north while others will go south;

                     Land's End then northwards through Wales;

                          Or north to Scotland first;

                                 A 13 mile hop across the water to Ireland if you choose;

                                        Or visit the Western Isles;

                                               And, of course, finishing with an evening of entertainment.

  Don't miss this rally around Britain...   A real challenge for the less competitive pilot!

"I recommend the trip to all pilots, who should move heaven and earth to be there!" - Jeff ( 2005 & 2006)
