Welcome to FLY-UK
The Round Britain Microlight Adventure
Building on the success of previous years' events, the aim of Fly-UK 2009 is...
"To fly by day and socialise by night".
In 2004 we had 16 aircraft (including one gyro),
in 2005 about 30 joined our band,
in 2006 there were 50
in 2007 there were 40
and last year we saw 30
The 2008 event started with glorious sunshine in the west of England but poor weather in the East and in Scotland. Half of the team chose to stick with the challenge of the planned route - from Sandtoft to John O'Groats and returning by the west coast - while the remainder started at Over Farm before splitting into separate groups and visiting Lands End, the Northwest and East Anglia.
We all had a great week of flying and finally all met up on the Thursday evening at Shobdon where we had a grand barbecue. There was varied weather and challenging times with strong winds or low clouds and heavy rain.
The team supports the less experienced pilots and ensures that everyone has an enjoyable time and one to remember. Everyone reached Sandown on the Friday afternoon in time for the Wight Party, a strole along the beach or a flight around the island.
So, why not join us this year?
We are starting in the Midlands as usual.
Heading up the East Coast to John O'Groats.
Back down the West Coast to Lands End.
And along the South coast.
And the destination? You'll have to join the trip to find out!
Don't miss this rally around Britain...
A real challenge for the less competitive pilot!
"I recommend the trip to all pilots, who should move heaven and earth to be there!" - Jeff ( 2005 & 2006)
